Swamp White Oak

The swamp white oak (Quercus bicolor) is a sturdy, medium-to-large hardwood tree recognized for its bicolored, two-toned leaves, flaky bark, and strong branching structure that provides excellent wildlife habitat. It thrives in moist to wet, poorly to moderately drained soils, often in floodplains, swamps, and lowlands, and grows best in full sun while tolerating periodic flooding and heavier clay soils.
