The SWCD Poster Contest gives local 4th grade students the opportunity to explore conservation through art and learning. With the official theme “Our County, Our Soil, Our Water,” SWCD staff visit classrooms during the month of April, an important environmental month, to present lessons on soil and water conservation. Students learn what conservation is, why it matters, and how they can be better conservationists in their everyday lives. After the presentations, students create original posters reflecting the theme. Posters are voted on, and winners receive custom prizes in recognition of their creativity and conservation message.
