The RIM (Reinvest in Minnesota) Reserve and PWP (Permanent Wetland Preserve) Programs are permanent easements with the State of Minnesota, administered by the Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR), and implemented locally by the Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).  These are voluntary programs for landowners interested in receiving payment to retire marginal agricultural land, provide buffer areas along rivers and streams, restore wetlands, or protect existing wetlands.

The RIM Reserve and PWP Program easements are permanently recorded on the land title of the enrolled land, but remains the property of the landowner. The landowner also retains the right to control access to the land.  If the land is ever sold, the easement transfers with the property to the new landowner.
